However this year local businesses, traders and eateries are able to cash-in on St Patrick’s Day and the March Easter season opening a few weeks earlier than in previous years.<br/><br/>Formerly Barry’s Amusements, the popular family funpark attracts thousands of visitors from Easter to September each year and this 2024 season is set to be longer and bigger.<br/><br/>Over the past few weeks, workmen have been busy painting and fixing the premises and rides in anticipation of another busy spring and summer. And last week the seaside town watched in anticipation as the popular Curry’s Helter Skelter was erected as well as the Portrush Ferris Wheel, two signs that the north coast is set to welcome tourists.<br/><br/>A Curry’s spokesperson revealed: “If everything goes to plan, Curry’s hopes to open for the 2024 season on Friday (March 15). At the minute we are feeding the hobby horses and polishing the dodgems in preparation for another fantastically busy fun-filled time.”<br/><br/>Officials also confirmed that staff have been hired and ‘Curry’s are ready’ to welcome visitors initially at the weekends and over the Easter fortnight.")

_bird-watchers-flock-to-multi-storey-car-park-to-watch-stunning-starling-murmurations.webp "Crowds of bird watchers have been flocking to a rundown multi-storey car park to watch stunning starling murmurations.<br/><br/>Tens of thousands of the birds have been returning every night to the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch, Worcs.<br/><br/>Local residents started posting videos of the murmurations on social media since they started their displays in January.<br/><br/>Their breathtaking aerial acrobatics have attracted hundreds of people who watch the birds from the top of the shopping centre.<br/><br/>Shop worker Angie Wilson, 30, said she first noticed the starlings while walking home from work one January evening.<br/><br/>She said: “It was just incredible, the entire sky seemed to go dark with birds and the noise was something else, like a screeching that just got louder and louder.<br/><br/>“The way the starlings all moved together as one giant shape was mesmerising. I just stood and watched them for ages.<br/><br/>“Since then I come down most nights when it’s not raining to watch them do their thing. <br/><br/>\")
_we-visit-the-park-with-one-of-the-four-only-palladian-bridges.webp "Located next to Widcombe, Bath and the Bath Skyline, Prior Park Landscape Gardens dates back to the 18th century and is home to one of only four Palladian bridges found in the world.<br/><br/>The park was commissioned by Ralph Allen, who came from a humble working background but made a fortune after becoming postmaster in Bath - and soon taking over the entire system outside of London - and from investing in the stone quarries at the nearby Combe Down.<br/><br/>Prior Park was built by architect John Wood - who pioneered Palladian-style buildings - to showcase the beauty and quality of Allen's stone. Allen also received support with the garden design from his friend Alexander Pope, a well-known poet and pioneer of the landscape movement.<br/><br/>The garden was abandoned after Allen died in 1764. In 1993, the National Trust took over the gardens, intending to restore them to their original state at the time of Ralph Allen's death.<br/><br/>The restoration project started in 2007 - aided by the Heritage Lottery Fund - and saw the creation of the Serpentine Lake, the reconstruction of the Cascade and the restoration of the Cabinet (an outdoor room ideal for special events).<br/><br/>The stunning gardens are open seven days a week from March to December from 10am to 5pm (last entry at 4pm) and on weekends from October to February from 10am to 4pm (last entry at 3pm).<br/><br/>Entry costs £10 (£11 with gift aid) per adult, £5 (£5.50 with gift aid) per child, £25 (£27.50 with gift aid) per family and £15 (£16.50) for one adult and two children and free for under 5s and National Trust members.")
